Among the sanctions are Dynasty International owner Aung Mo Myint and his brother Hlaing Mo Myint and director Myo Thitsar.
The banned individuals were supplying arms from Russia via Belarus to the junta government.
The US Treasury said in a statement, ‘Since the February 1, 2021 coup that overthrew Burma’s democratically elected civilian government, the military has committed numerous atrocities against the Burmese people, including the killing of 2,300 innocent civilians and the displacement of more than 900,000 people through the violent suppression of political dissent.’
“Since the February 2021 coup d’état, Aung Mo Myint has facilitated various arms deals and arms purchases on behalf of the Burmese military,” the statement added.
The US State Department has also placed Myanmar’s former police chief and former deputy interior minister Thanh Hlaing on its sanctions list for his alleged involvement in extrajudicial killings of protesters in February 2021.
