Republican candidate Sarah Huckabee Sanders has set a record as the first woman governor of the state of Arkansas in the US midterm elections. He will succeed Republican Governor Asa Hutkinson

Forty-year-old Sarah Huckabee once served as White House press secretary. Sarah was the White House press secretary from 2017 to 2019 during former US President Donald Trump’s regime.

Sarah Huckabee is the daughter of former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee. Mike Huckabee served as governor from 1996 to 2007. Mike was the state’s lieutenant governor from 1993 to 1996.

In the US midterm elections, the Republicans and Democrats are fighting for control of Congress in the upper chamber of the Senate. However, the Republicans are ahead in the lower house of the House of Representatives, according to the Reuters report.

In Tuesday’s election, voting was held in 35 seats in the Senate and 435 seats in the House of Representatives. Voting is still going on in some constituencies. Besides, on this day, 36 states also voted for the post of governor.
