Cherevati said Russia had between 5,000 and 5,500 troops in Liman, but the number of encircled troops could be lower due to casualties.
Russia’s Defense Ministry did not immediately comment on the matter.
Russia’s latest operational update was on Friday evening. Russian military bloggers said the loss of the city would be a serious blow. It is clear that Moscow has decided to abandon the city and withdraw its forces.
