US President Joe Biden promised to provide modern air defense system to Ukraine.

Biden made the promise on Monday after Russia’s massive missile attack on the Ukrainian capital, Kiev, and other cities. The White House said this in a statement. News from AFP.

A statement from the White House said that Biden spoke by phone with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. He promised to supply necessary weapons including modern air defense systems for the security of Ukraine.

Russia launched a deadly attack on Ukraine on Monday in retaliation for the explosion of the only bridge connecting Russia and Crimea. Russia attacked for the first time after the invasion of Ukraine on February 24.

“Air defense is now the number one priority in our defense cooperation,” Zelensky said in a tweet after Biden’s call.

The European Union (EU) said Monday’s attack constituted a war crime. On the other hand, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said that Russia stands for terrorism and brutality.

Kiev claims that Russian forces have fired more than 80 missiles at various cities in Ukraine. Russia also attacked using Iranian drones from Belarus. More than 43 people were shot in this attack.

The president of the European Commission also emphasized increasing communication with allies and partners by imposing more sanctions on the country to hold Russia accountable for war crimes and atrocities.
