The Diversity Visa (DV) Lottery in 2024 will start accepting applications for visas for immigrants to the United States from last Wednesday (October 5). Application can be made online.

The US State Department made the announcement on Tuesday, October 4. Citizens of 19 countries including Bangladesh, India, Pakistan will not get this opportunity to apply. Since last year 2013, Bangladeshis are not able to apply for DV Lottery. Until 2012, Bangladesh was under the DV lottery for US green card and legal stay.
The US State Department said it will not allow paper applications for the 2024 diversity visa program. Congress approves more than 50,000 green cards each year for immigrants from around the world in an effort to diversify the U.S. population.
More than 50,000 immigrants from Bangladesh have settled in the United States through the DV lottery so far. Due to the large number of Bangladeshi immigrants, Bangladesh is currently not allowed to apply for the DV lottery.
The US State Department cautions candidates against applying unilaterally. Identification and cancellation of applicant’s application through technology is also mentioned. But husband and wife can make two separate applications.
