A police officer was killed and several others injured in a suicide car bomb attack at a checkpoint in the Pakistani capital Islamabad on Friday. The news agency Reuters confirmed the information with reference to the Pakistani police.

Islamabad operations police chief Sohail Zafar told reporters, ‘Our preliminary information says that there was a man and a woman in the car. Tried to stop the car at the checkpoint but the car did not stop.’

He further said, ‘As they chased the car, the people inside the car detonated it. It was a suicide blast. At least six others were injured.’
