Russia has reduced the level of diplomatic relations with Estonia, a country belonging to the European Union, by adopting a completely Russian-phobic diplomacy. Also, Russia ordered the country’s ambassador Margus Lydre to leave Moscow by February 7. RT news.

The move comes after the Tallinn embassy complained that Moscow had laid off its embassy staff.

“Estonian leadership is deliberately destroying the entire complex of (bilateral) relations,” the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Monday. Tallinn has elevated the cultivation of outright Russophobia and hostility towards our country to the level of state policy.’

This month, Estonian authorities asked Russia to drastically reduce the number of staff at its embassy in Tallinn by February 1.

Estonian Foreign Minister Urmas Reinsalu said at the time, ‘We believe that Russian embassy staff are not working to improve Estonian-Russian relations in the midst of an aggressive war. The current size of the Russian mission is absurd.’

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova condemned calls to cut diplomatic staff in Tallinn. He said, ‘It is no secret that Estonia is one of the most hostile countries towards Russia.’

The Russian embassy in Tallinn said last week that the Estonian authorities’ actions prevented it from functioning normally and caused ‘disruptions to consular services’.
