


Russian President Vladimir Putin has visited large-scale joint military exercises with China and other allied countries.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitri Peskov gave this information to local media. Al-Jazeera news.
He said that Putin met with Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu and Military Chief of Staff Valery Gerasimov on Tuesday. Meanwhile, he observed the last stage of the military exercise.
This military exercise started from last September amid the tension of the war with Ukraine. The military exercise began amid tensions between Moscow and Beijing with the United States. The military forces of China, India, Laos, Mongolia, Nicaragua, Syria also participated in this exercise along with many countries of the former Soviet Union.
The exercise will continue till Wednesday. More than 50,000 troops participated in the military exercise. There are also more than five thousand military equipment. Besides, there are 140 aircraft and 60 warships.
Military drills have been held as part of a series of strengthening ties between Beijing and Moscow over the past few years. Recently, China’s relationship with Russia has deepened over the Ukraine war.
Colonel Tan Kefei, spokesman for China’s Ministry of Defense, said that they participated in the military exercise with the aim of enhancing strategic ties between all partners. Through this, it will acquire the ability to deal with future military threats.
However, it is not clear why China participated in this military exercise.
The last such military exercise was held in 2018.
Last Monday, the Japanese cabinet secretary criticized this Russian military exercise. He claimed that the exercise was being conducted in a part of Japan’s territory. They are monitoring the movement of warships at sea regardless.
