Russian President Vladimir Putin visited the bridge connecting Crimea with mainland Russia. He visited the bridge on Monday after it was damaged by an explosion in October. Moscow has been blaming Ukraine for the explosion on that bridge.
State television footage showed Putin driving a Mercedes himself to visit the bridge, during which he inquired about its repair work from Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khushnullin. A photo released by the Kremlin, the office of the Russian president, showed Putin standing on the bridge and speaking.
A part of the bridge connecting Crimea with Russia was damaged in the early morning of October 8 local time. Russia sees this incident as a ‘terrorist attack’. The bridge known as the Kerch Bridge connects Russia with the Crimean Peninsula. It is an important supply route for Russian forces in southern Ukraine.
