Russian President Vladimir Putin has announced the deployment of more troops amid military operations in Ukraine.
Qatar-based media Al-Jazeera reported this information.
Putin addressed the nation on television on Wednesday (September 21). He also announced the signing of a decree to mobilize more troops. The new army deployment program will start from Wednesday.
In a televised address, Putin said the West does not want peace between Ukraine and Russia. Their goal is to destroy Russia. Russia is fighting to defend its territory.
On the other hand, last Tuesday, the separatists of Donetsk and Luhansk in the eastern part of Ukraine and Kherson province in the southern part announced the holding of a referendum to merge with Russia. This referendum can be held between 23 and 27 September.
The next day, Putin announced an additional military buildup in Ukraine. However, Putin did not clarify what the process of deploying additional troops would be.
With this announcement by Putin, it is feared that the ongoing war situation in Ukraine may become more serious.
