A huge collision between 200 vehicles took place on a bridge in the Chinese city of Zhengzhou amid thick fog. One person was killed in Wednesday’s incident, Reuters reported.

Photos and videos posted on social media showed cars and trucks crushed and piled on top of each other on the Zhengjin Huanghe Bridge. One person can be heard saying in the video, ‘It’s so scary. It’s full of people, I don’t think we can get off the bridge.’

Many of the injured were trapped in their vehicles and the fire department sent 11 fire trucks and 66 fire rescue personnel to help, state media reported.

Visibility in many areas was less than 500 meters Wednesday morning and sometimes dropped to 200 meters, the weather service said.

Rescuers said more than 200 vehicles collided with each other. Vehicles traveling in both directions over a major crossing bridge over the Yellow River have been involved in numerous accidents.

The police later closed the bridge to all traffic.
