A video of the young woman’s funeral has gone viral, showing people crying by placing her photo next to a freshly dug grave, NDTV reported.
According to reports, he was shot in the stomach, neck, heart and hand.
More than a week after the death of Mahsa Amini, violent protests have been going on across Iran. Hundreds of people demonstrated in London this weekend to protest the death of Mahsa Amini. Amini passed away on September 16.
According to medical reports, the young woman from Iran’s Kurdistan province suffered several violent blows to her head, which left her in a coma, Euronews reported. However, Iranian authorities claimed he had ‘suddenly suffered a heart attack.’
After the 1979 Islamic Revolution, women in Iran were required by law to wear the hijab. The policy is largely unpopular, with Iranian women usually wearing headscarves loosely around their ears or draped around their necks.
When this rule was implemented in 1981, it sparked widespread protests. Since then the movement has continued sporadically.
The government wants to prove that it resorted to violence against protesters but did not use any violence against Amini. A lawyer named Mohammad Hoshar said, “It doesn’t make any sense.” Iranian authorities are going on TV and saying no one touched this woman while in custody. But at the same time they are shooting people in the streets.’
At least 35 people have been killed since protests erupted in Iran last week. Most of these deaths are attributed to the violent crackdown by the country’s security forces. They used live ammunition to quell the protests and detained hundreds of people, Euronews reported.
The UK government, along with other Western countries, strongly condemned the ‘assassination’ of Mahsa Amini. However, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi has been criticized for not publicly challenging the issue at a recent UN meeting in New York.
