A resistance group in Karen State reported burning down three government offices in Pai Thanju on the Thai border on Monday. The Pythonju Guerrilla Force (PGF) said it attacked the General Administration Department and municipal offices in the border town. News from The Irrawaddy.

A PGF spokesman said, ‘Government operatives know that no one can protect anyone working for the Military Council. We call upon all workers to join the civil disobedience movement.’

The PGF warned the junta informers to stop spying on the revolutionary movement.

Residents reported hearing gunshots. The PGF said they fired during their coordinated operation but did not cause any casualties. They retreated before the junta troops arrived.

After the operation, anti-regime Lion Battalion commandos and their allies ambushed junta reinforcements from the 44th Light Infantry Division that ran from Kayinseikgi to Pythonju. At least three junta soldiers were killed and five wounded, according to the Lion Battalion.

The clash continued till Tuesday afternoon.
