Raja Singh, a member of parliament of the ruling BJP in the Telangana state of India, has been arrested by the police for allegedly making insulting comments about the Holy Prophet of Islam, Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH).

NDTV reported this information in a report on Tuesday.

According to the police, a case has been registered against Raja Singh on various charges including intentionally causing violence between people of different religious communities.

Raja Singh released a ten-minute video. It was alleged that he made insulting comments about the Holy Prophet in that video.

After the video went viral on social media, protests were held in front of the police commissioner’s office in various parts of Hyderabad on Monday night demanding Raja Singh’s arrest. According to the protesters, Raja Singh’s comments hurt their religious sentiments. They also demanded the speedy arrest of Raja Singh. Then the police arrested him.

Last June, former spokesperson of BJP party Nupur Sharma taunted Nabiji. For that comment, there was a strong storm of protest in the Muslim world including India. Then the BJP government was forced to sack Nupur Sharma. At least 10 cases were filed against him across India.
