Germany and France strongly criticized Russia’s attack on Ukraine at the UN General Assembly session.
This information was mentioned in a report of Qatar-based media Al-Jazeera.
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said at the United Nations in New York on Tuesday, “There is no basis for Russia’s attack on conducting military aggression in Ukraine. This is imperialism.”
According to him, this decision of Putin will bring disaster not only in Europe. Rather, it will influence the maintenance of rule-based order in the world.
French President Emmanuel Macron said that no country should remain neutral in condemning Russia for its attack on Ukraine. Those who are currently silent, are helping the rise of a new imperialism.
On the other hand, Qatar, Senegal and Turkey have called for an early start of peace talks. And Lithuania has called for the establishment of a war crimes tribunal to try Moscow’s atrocities in Ukraine.
On February 24, Russia launched a military invasion of Ukraine. This month marks seven months of the Russia-Ukraine war.
The vote was held in the UN General Assembly after Russia’s military campaign. At that time, 140 countries condemned the Russian attack and called for the immediate withdrawal of troops from the territory of Ukraine. However, more than 30 countries refrained from criticizing Russia. These include India, China and South Africa.
