


A fund of USD 14.25 billion has been set up for the complete cure of AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria worldwide.
Qatar-based media Al-Jazeera reported this information.
Yesterday Wednesday (September 21) in New York City of the United States, a fundraising event was organized in addition to the United Nations conference. US President Joe Biden was the host of the event.
Joe Biden said in his speech that the creation of new funds will save the lives of 20 million more people. Besides, it will be possible to reduce the mortality rate due to these diseases by another 64 percent in the next four years.
In 2002, a fund named ‘Global Fund’ was formed by government and private initiatives to cure the three diseases. Fund officials had sought an allocation of $18 billion over the next three years. One-third of the total fund can be raised before Wednesday’s event.
Already, the UK and Italy have announced allocations to the fund. The United States has pledged the largest allocation. The country will allocate six billion US dollars. Besides, the allocation is likely to increase several times in the future.
According to the UNAIDS agency, in 2021, 990,000 children and the elderly in the African country of Malawi were infected with the HIV virus. And tuberculosis is a serious threat to the country’s public health.
The President of the African Republic of Malawi was present at the event. He said this is not just a conference for the government and people of his country. Rather, the conference is about saving lives for them.
Also, it is expected that Global Fund funds will play an important role in eradicating AIDS, Tuberculosis, Malaria diseases around the world.
