


A massive explosion was reported in the vicinity of the Russian Embassy in Kabul, the national capital of Afghanistan, on Monday. A total of 20 people are expected to be killed in the explosion. Among them are two Russian diplomats, according to the Russian news agency Sputnik.
According to media reports, it is a suicide blast.
Afghanistan’s Khama Press reported that a powerful explosion occurred near the embassy building in Darul Aman area, southwest of Kabul.
On Friday, a prominent Afghan cleric was among those killed in an explosion at a mosque in Herat province, officials said.
Locals said that a large number of people were present at the time of the bomb blast.
According to Tolo News, the explosion occurred during Friday prayers inside the mosque. Earlier last month too, there was a big explosion in a mosque. At least 21 people were killed and more than 30 injured in the incident.
Also in 2016, there was a bomb blast near the Russian embassy. At least 12 people were killed and more than 20 injured during the incident.
Recently, the Daesh or ISIS terrorist organization has targeted Taliban religious madrassas and mosques in Kabul and other parts of the country.
