US President Joe Biden will decide whether he will seek a second term in 2024 at the ‘beginning’ of the new year. His chief of staff, Ron Klein, said Monday. AFP.

Speaking at The Wall Street Journal’s CEO Council Summit, Klein said Biden had consulted with his family about the matter. He is currently 80 years old. He has already entered the list of the oldest president in the history of the United States. If he serves a second term, he will be 86 years old when he steps down.

In an interview that aired in The Wall Street Journal, Klein said he believes he has “an interest in the election.” Klein is one of the most senior officials in Washington to comment on this matter.

“I’ve heard from many Democrats in the United States that they want him to run for a second term,” Klein said. But the President will decide on this. I hope he will take a decision on this soon after the holidays.’

The only recently announced candidate for the 2024 election is Republican Donald Trump. He was defeated by Biden in the 2020 election. He accused Biden of vote fraud in that election.

Biden strongly indicated that he will fight for re-election. He said on November 9 that he intends to run for president of the United States again after the Democratic Party did surprisingly well in the midterm elections. He will inform about this at the beginning of next year.
