US President Joe Biden telephoned Britain’s new Prime Minister Rishi Sunak. Biden said on the phone on Tuesday, “UK is a close ally of America.” News from AFP.

According to Sunak’s office, the two leaders discussed over the phone the expansion of cooperation between the United Kingdom and the United States and bilateral cooperation in various regions such as the Indo-Pacific. During this time they also discussed many controversial issues in Northern Ireland.

The trans-Atlantic allies will meet face-to-face at the G-20 summit in Indonesia next month.

Rishi Sunak took over as British Prime Minister on Tuesday. He officially became Prime Minister after meeting King Charles III. He also holds the distinction of being the first Prime Minister of the King Charles era. Until now, the country’s prime minister came holding the queen’s hand.
