A long-range Ukrainian artillery strike this week killed nearly 60 Russian soldiers. This is the second time in a span of four days that Ukraine has claimed major casualties in a single incident. News from Reuters.

In a Facebook post, the General Staff of the Armed Forces said the Russian casualties were caused when Ukrainian forces shelled the town of Mykhailokova, 40 kilometers south of Kherson, on Thursday. Russian forces abandoned the city earlier this month.

However, Kiev did not give any details about the attack. The Russian Defense Ministry did not immediately respond to a request for comment and Reuters could not independently verify the Ukrainian army’s account.

On the other hand, the United States has provided Ukraine with advanced rocket systems capable of hitting targets 80 km away.

About 50 Russian soldiers were killed in a shelling attack on the village of Deneznikov, 70 kilometers behind the front line in the eastern province of Luhansk, on Tuesday, Ukraine said on Wednesday.
