An earthquake measuring 7.6 on the Richter scale struck the eastern part of Papua New Guinea, a country in the Pacific region.
The news agency Reuters reported in a report that the earthquake hit Papua New Guinea on Sunday.
As seen in various videos, many roads and houses were destroyed due to the earthquake. However, no casualties have been reported so far.
Currently there is panic among the people of that area.
The United States Geological Survey issued a tsunami warning for Papua New Guinea due to the earthquake. But later the tsunami warning was withdrawn. However, there is a slight possibility of sea level rise in coastal areas.
