At least six people, including a child, have died after a boat carrying migrants capsized in southwestern Turkey.

A total of 73 migrants were rescued from four lifeboats on Tuesday, Turkey’s coastguard said. Besides, five more people are missing.

Among the dead, one woman, three children and two small children died. But it is not known which country they are citizens of.

The boat carrying the migrants had left Lebanon for Italy.

According to the Reuters news agency, the Turkish Coast Guard has detained more than 30,000 irregular migrants so far this year. Which is double compared to the same period last year.
