


At least 42 people have died in a fire at a Coptic church in Egypt. Besides, at least 55 people were injured. They have been admitted to a local hospital.
Al Jazeera reported that the fire occurred in Egypt on Sunday (August 14). Five thousand people gathered in that church for prayer.
Two security officials told Reuters news agency that the fire in the church caused the accident.
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi spoke to the Pope on the phone. He expressed condolences to the victims. Besides, he has directed all the state institutions to take necessary steps to take necessary steps.
Firefighters are working to control the fire. It is said that there was a lot of wood inside the church.
Copts are the largest Christian community in the Middle East. At least 10 million of Egypt’s 103 million people belong to this community.
Over the past few years, Egypt has been plagued by devastating fires. At least 20 people died in a fire at a textile factory in Cairo in March last year. In 2020 also, 14 corona infected patients died due to fire in two hospitals.
