At least three people were killed and seven were injured in a shooting at a high school in St. Louis, Missouri, USA. Suspected attackers are among the dead.

A gunman entered the Central Visual and Performing Arts High School in St. Louis, Missouri shortly after 9 a.m. local time on Monday and carried out the attack. British media BBC reported this information in a report on Tuesday.

According to the report, the gunman entered the school and carried out the attack. However, the doors to the school building were locked and it was not immediately clear how the suspected gunman gained entry. It is not yet clear whether the attacker is affiliated with the Central Visual and Performing Arts High School, which has about 400 students, or what his motive was.

St. Louis Public Schools says police ‘quickly stopped’ the alleged gunman. Police have identified the suspected attacker as a 19-year-old former student. The accused assailant exchanged fire with the police when they reached the spot on receiving information about the attack and he died in the shootout.

Witnesses say many lives were saved after the gunman’s weapon jammed or jammed at some point after the attack began.

Apart from the attacker, the other two victims are a teenager and a woman. The girl was declared dead inside the school soon after the attack. In addition, the police told the local media that the woman who was killed was taken to the hospital after being injured in the attack but died there.

According to local media reports, three girls and four boys were among the seven injured in the attack. None of their injuries are serious.

The city’s police commissioner, Michael Sack, said the news of the attack left students running in fear. Seeing the situation, the school staff quickly informed the police. The gunman was carrying hundreds of bullets and had about a dozen high-capacity magazines lined up.

“This is a heartbreaking day for all of us,” he added. He also said FBI agents are assisting in the investigation.
