Two Syrian soldiers were killed in an Israeli airstrike. Damascus airport services have also been suspended in the face of Israeli attacks. Syrian state news agency SANA reported this, citing military sources.

According to news agency SANA, Israel launched a missile attack on Damascus International Airport and its surrounding area at around 2 am on Sunday local time. The Israeli strike killed two soldiers and shut down service at Damascus International Airport.

Rami Abdul Rahman, head of the UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, told AFP that Israel carried out airstrikes targeting Hezbollah and pro-Iranian groups inside and around the airport.

Since civil war broke out in Syria in 2011, Israel has carried out hundreds of airstrikes against its neighbor. The main targets of these attacks were government troops as well as fighters from the pro-Iranian Syrian allied forces and the Lebanese Shiite militant group Hezbollah.
