Afghanistan is bloodied again by the terrible bomb blast in the mosque. At least 15 people, including a prominent cleric, were killed in an explosion at a mosque in the western city of Herat.

The bomb attack took place at Gujargah Mosque in Herat before Friday prayers at noon local time.

The name of the deceased scholar is Mujib Rahman Ansari. They were killed on their way to the mosque with some bodyguards and civilians.

According to Al Jazeera, 15 people have been killed so far in the explosion, according to local sources. At least 21 people were injured.

Herat police spokesman Mahmud Rasooli said it was believed to be a suicide bombing.

In this regard, Taliban spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid said in a tweet that the strong and courageous religious cleric of the country was martyred in the brutal attack. The criminals behind this will be punished.

The armed group ISIL (ISIS) has been blamed for the blast at the Gujargah mosque in Herat. ISIL has also been accused of carrying out a series of attacks against religious and ethnic minorities and Taliban targets in Afghanistan.
